Nonduality as a Path to Inner Peace
How Embracing Oneness and Radical Acceptance Can Lead to Lasting Inner Peace
Julia Dencker
In our modern world, where the separation between "me" and "you," "right" and "wrong" is ever-present, many people long for a deeper understanding of unity and inner peace. One approach that offers an answer to this yearning is nonduality. But what does this term mean, and how can it help us find inner peace? In an inspiring podcast interview with Rosa Koppelmann, an expert in nonduality, we dove deep into this topic.
What is Nonduality?
Nonduality describes the concept of unity—the idea that everything is interconnected and there is no true separation. Rosa explains it simply: "Duality means separation, nonduality is the absence of separation. Everything is one. When we accept that everything in the universe vibrates together, categories like 'good' and 'bad' collapse."
This understanding is rooted in the scientific discoveries of Albert Einstein, who showed that matter doesn’t truly exist at its core, but rather, everything is vibration and frequency. Nonduality means viewing life from this perspective: there are no separate entities, only one large whole. And within this whole, there is no judgment—everything is allowed to be.
Nonduality and Inner Peace
According to Rosa, the path to inner peace lies in radical acceptance. "The more we learn to observe ourselves and our feelings and move into radical acceptance, the closer we come to a state of inner peace." This means that not only positive but also uncomfortable emotions like insecurity, anger, or self-doubt are welcome. They are part of the human experience and can help us lead a life of greater freedom and ease.
Rosa vividly describes this process: "When an emotion like self-hatred arises, it’s helpful not to see it as a problem, but as something that simply wants to be there. Instead of analyzing the cause, we can explore these feelings playfully, like a ball of clay that we examine from all angles. In doing so, the emotion loses its weight, and we return to a state of peace."
Practical Tips for Everyday Life
How can we integrate these principles into our daily lives? Rosa shares a simple but powerful exercise: "I have trained my body to show me the feeling of an open heart and to alert me when it begins to close. Through this conscious heart connection, I can feel inner peace even in challenging moments." This practice can help us adjust our reactions in everyday life and remain calm even in stressful situations.
A key theme here is also how we can come together as a society, even when we have different opinions and perspectives. Rosa emphasizes that it’s often helpful to zoom out and look at the situation from a bird’s-eye view: "When we consciously zoom out and realize that everyone has their own story and conditioning, it becomes easier to stay in acceptance and compassion."

Summary: Peace Through Unity
The conversation with Rosa - I had for my German The Peaceful Path Podcast - powerfully illustrates that inner peace does not come from avoiding negative feelings but from integrating and accepting them. Nonduality can help us overcome separation within ourselves and in society, leading to a deeper understanding of unity. By integrating these concepts into our lives, we not only create more peace within ourselves but also radiate it outward.
Let’s embark on the journey to more inner peace and freedom together. It is possible to maintain peace even in turbulent times—not by avoiding conflicts but by accepting them as part of the whole.
